This project comprised the redevelopment of the Recreation Grounds and Bowling Club to provide new and enhanced recreational facilities and quality public realm.
The Grounds are prominently located at Ramore Head, Portrush Peninsula. The proposal was designed to respect and acknowledge the site’s location adjacent to the Causeway Special Area of Conversation, an Area of Archaeological Potential and the Ramore Head and Skerries ASSI.
The regeneration and environmental improvement works include a new adventure play area, demolition of existing pavilion building and provision of a new bowling pavilion and new synthetic court, new urban sports area and an upgrade of public realm with the inclusion of a multi-use events space. The scheme also comprises pathways, disabled and bicycle parking spaces, car parking, viewing areas, street furniture, way-finding signage, street lighting, planting, new drainage and boundary treatments including retaining walls.
