Portaneevey, Whitepark Road, Ballintoy

Portaneevy is located on the Causeway Coastal Route between Ballintoy and Ballycastle. It is used as a tourist viewing point commanding impressive views to Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge, out towards Rathlin Island and the Scottish Isles and around to Fair Head. The project involved improving and extending the viewing area s and current parking, along with upgrading the footpath and sensitive landscape works to soften the car parking area.

The project was run alongside a sister project at Magheracross, both used a similar suite of appropriate materials, reflecting where possible local landscape characteristics, eg. limestone pathways. Biodiversity, inclusivity and sensitivity were key drivers in the design and construction of the facility.
