Ballyronan Marina, Shore Road, Magherafelt

Ballyronan Marina improvements have provided a reinvigorated tourism and community facility at an existing marina site which was in a tired and dated condition.

The completed works include:
• 4no. floating, glamping-pods and Associated pontoon access.

• Enhanced access and car-parking arrangements to Ballyronan Marina and Wood (Cycle/footpaths, and vehicular), The car parking spaces were redesigned to provide accessible parking opportunities. The car park can also host major events, such as concerts. Porous self-binding gravel is used throughout the pathway network in order to accommodate and alleviate flooding.

• A new large scale inclusive play facility, which includes a range equipment for all age groups including musical play area, junior zone, all weather shelter, accessible play trail, inclusive swings and a large central inclusive play feature.

• Walking trails and biodiversity areas providing species rich grass, wildflower planting, local trees of Irish provenance and mixed native hedging throughout.

• Public Realm enhancements to the existing Marina Grounds and Car Parks.

• Changing Places Facility and external access arrangement to community building.

The project has been welcomed by local members of the community and attracts visitors from further afield.
